Summer Reading Club 2017

New theme, “Build a Better World,” new activities and the easiest, new guide to fun.  Joy and laughter are certainly two important elements in building a better world.  Where can you find these in huge quantities… in the children’s department at the public library!  Beginning Thursday, June 1, 10 a.m., you may visit the library and pick up your packet of information about our new reading club, along with a FREE book of your choice.  No need to fill out a complicated form, just pick up your activity sheets and share a smile with the librarian.  In your information, you will receive a Reading Log.  After you have read or listened to a story for one hour, check off one Lego picture on your log. After each hour of reading, you will have earned a Lego piece to add to our community build.  (Sorry, the Lego pieces have to stay in the library.) By working together, we can build one amazing structure.  Will it be a new invention?  Will it be something no one has ever seen before? What can we build by everyone working together?  Everyone age 3-11 is invited to join the building challenge. Each week, we will also have a brag tag available that you can collect to build a keychain or a necklace.  When you visit,  we will also have craft projects  and guessing games with special prizes.  If you return your reading log to the library by August 31, 5 p.m., no matter how much you have read, you will also receive another FREE book for joining in the fun.  We can guarantee that you will find a book that will bring you joy and laughter this summer.  Take us up on this reading challenge also.  Build a better world through the joy of reading and books!
