Applying for a Library Card

Visit the Circulation Desk and present your current/valid Driver’s License or State of Michigan ID showing your current/valid Redford Township address.  You will receive your card in a matter of minutes and it will be valid for one (1) year from the date of issue.

Coupon Corner

Visit our coupon exchange in the copier alcove. Drop off coupons you can’t use, and pick up those you need!

Display Case Information

Do you have an interesting collection or hobby that you’d like to share?  Ask to feature your treasures in the Library’s display case! The display case is available for educational, artistic, informational, and cultural displays and exhibits.  Displays of a commercial nature are not accepted, though business cards may be left at the Library for distribution.  Signage stating a display’s sponsorship must be included with all exhibits.

Fax Services

The library offers fax services at the Circulation Desk.  Faxing is available at $1/pg., outgoing only with a free coversheet.  International faxing is available with an additional $5 flat fee.

Hold Pickup Notification via SMS Text Messaging

This feature is patron opt-in only.  You must sign in to your account on the eLibrary Catalog and provide your cell number and the name of your wireless carrier under "Opt-In & Notifications". Please know that text messaging may not start for up to 24 hours after you have opted-in to the service.

Can’t find what you’re looking for? Interlibrary loan is available for many items not owned by the Redford Township District Library.

Magazines & Newspapers

The complete list of magazines and newspapers subscribed to by the Redford Township District Library.

Redford residents also have access to the Zinio Magazine Collection, the world's largest newsstand, which offers full color, interactive digital magazines.

Meeting Room & Group Study Room Use




Library Meeting Rooms and Group Study Rooms may be reserved online by clicking on the links above.  Individuals reserving meeting space should carefully read the Use Policy pertaining to the type of room booked. Rooms are reserved in two-hour blocks. Group Study Rooms may be booked free of charge.

The Redford Township District Library participates in the MILibraryCard program.  A MILibraryCard sticker affixed to a borrower’s card allows access to up to 10 books (print only) across the state at participating libraries.  RTDL patrons may acquire a MILibraryCard sticker at the Circulation Desk.  To find out if your library participates click on the link below. 

Participating Libraries 


The Library offers self-serve copiers for your convenience.  The photocopiers are located in the Copy alcove near the Adult Reference Desk.  B&W copies are .15/pg. and color copies are .50/pg.  You may also scan documents on the copiers free of charge.

Public Computer Access

There are 24 computers in the Adult Department and 7 in the Children's Department, which offer internet access and Microsoft Office 2010. The Children's Department also has 3 iPads with a pre-loaded game on each. In order to use these computers, you must log on with a valid Library card number or a Guest Pass

If you bring your own wireless-compatible device, you may access the Wi-Fi without a Library card.  You may print wirelessly from your smartphone, laptop or tablet to one of our Print-Release Stations.  If you are in a hurry, use one of the 2 Express Stations available next to the library catalogs for 15-minute sessions

There is an adaptive use computer for the visually impaired in the Adult Department. No library card is needed to use.

The library provides 3 self-checkout machines for your convenience.  Located in the Children’s Department, at the Circulation Desk and next to the main catalogs, the self-checkout machines provide receipt options not available at the Circulation Desk.

Self-Service Hold Shelf

The library features a self-service hold shelf, conveniently located next to the Circulation Desk.  When you are notified that your request has come in, it will remain on the shelf under your last name for 1 week.  You may check out the item(s) at the Circulation Desk or at one of the 3 convenient self-checkout machines.

We have a selection of Federal and State reproducible forms that you may photocopy for .15/pg. Forms not available at the library may also be printed from the following websites for .15/pg.
